Special Day..

Today was an awesome day!

I went back to visit Magnolia Woods Elementary (the school that I have adopted), and it was a fun day. There were some students that had proven that they were working extremely hard in the classrooms by making the A Honor Roll, or the A/B Honor. So Nike and I teamed up and provided some shoes to fifty of the students to show them that I (and the HOPE Foundation) love the fact that they value their education.

Knowledge is power, and myself as well as those elementary students are the future. Without work ethic and education you don't really have much. The students were excited as well as the Principal Wallette and her staff. There were a lot of students that we spoke to about striving to be better and doing better not for the reward of the shoes, but also the reward of life. Those shoes was just a small reward compared to the rewards of having a great education for life in general. I just want to say that it brought my heart great joy to see the smiles on those kids faces. I think that this is what we as athletes should be doing.

I love the fact that I get to go to the school and interact with the students so that they can see that I am not invincible, that I am human just like them and that getting my education was and still is just as important to me as them getting theirs.
Thank yall for following, stay tuned for more to come as I plan to do way more with the school before I head out to Phoenix.

You can read more about this day and see some pictures from the event at LSU's site! Many thanks to the LSU Women's Team for joining me on this special day!!

God Bless and continue to walk by Faith and not by sight.

The Dead Sea and More..

Hello everyone,

Today I went on another adventure. I must say though that the first stop was heart breaking. We went to visit The Jewish Holocaust! It was very sad to go through that museum and listen to all that stuff that they had to face and go through, all because of their nationality. Because many didn't agree to how the Jews were living as people the Germans along with many other nations brought it upon themselves to say that it was not the way of life and executed millions of men, women, and children. It was really disheartening. To be honest I am not sure if what I learned here today in the Museum, is fully discussed to the maximum as I heard today. I was so surprised to learn of the other countries that were involved in killing these people as well. I wish I can name all of them for you, but it was so much information until I could only remember a few; France, Austria, Belgium,Hungary, a part of Africa that was then run by the french, just a few that comes to mind.

The Germans were unbelievable and so was their leader, Adolf Hitler. One of my teammates raised the question, "which one meek, do you think is worse, what happen to the Jews, or what happened to our people?" I can honestly say that you can't put more emphasis on one than the other. I can say that both were horrible and uncalled for. There were some similarities but there were also a lot of differences as to what went on with both races, all I can say is that I strongly dislike both.

Ok enough of that, from here we went on to the Dead Sea (Jordan River) we had a blast. I got into the black mud that is there as well as the sea. Now before you get all bent out of shape and start asking yourself why on earth would she dip herself into mud? This is not the ordinary mud. This Black mud is found at the bottom of the sea and great for your skin. as you read on down a little further it will explain to you a lot about this sea. I promise it was an awesome experience. I strongly recommend it to anyone who will visit Israel.

Enjoy this little passage.......

As its name evokes, the Dead Sea is devoid of life due to an extremely high content of salts and minerals which gives its waters the renowned curative powers, therapeutic qualities, and its buoyancy, recognized since the days of Herod the Great, more than 2000 years ago. And because the salt content is four times that of most world's oceans, you can float in the Dead Sea without even trying, which makes swimming here a truly unique experience not to be missed: here is the only place in the world where you can recline on the water to read a newspaper.

Scientifically speaking, its water contains more than 35 different types of minerals that are essential for the health and care of the body skin including Magnesium, Calcium, Potassium, Bromine, Sulfur, and Iodine. They are well known for relieving pains and sufferings caused by arthritis, rheumatism, psoriasis, eczema, headache and foot-ache, while nourishing and softening the skin.

Although sparsely populated and serenely quiet now, the area has a historical and spiritual legacy of its own. It is believed to be the site of five biblical cities: Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zebouin and Zoar.

Hope it helped you better understand what it was I was trying to say. Lol...As you can see I have been taking this time to get out and do things and I promise I am enjoying every moment of it all.

Until Next time..
