I’ve missed all of you in my absence. Thank you for all of the support, as I know there have been questions about why you all haven’t seen me on the court, or even in uniform. You know, life happens. And in my life, I lost someone significant. Someone that meant so much to me. Someone that meant so much to so many people. My Grandma. Jewel Johnson. R.I.P.
My time away from the Sparks allowed me to be there for the person that allowed me to become the woman that I am today. My Grandma lived a great life, and touched so many people. She was a Teacher’s Assistant in Louisiana, and a teacher to many more (inside and outside of the classroom). I appreciate the Sparks for their support, and I appreciate all of you for missing me. It means a lot to me.
But now I’m back. So much has been going on, but it’s good to be back with my teammates and playing ball again. The fight was big news, but we’re glad to have that incident behind us. In my first two games back, we lost to Connecticut (while most of our team was suspended) and then a tough one to the NY Liberty. It felt good to be on the court and making plays, but we have a tough road ahead of us. We lost games we shouldn’t have lost, and now with a break in the season, we’ll have to regroup and play harder than ever in the 2nd half of the season to reach our goal and become WNBA champions. Some of our players will be representing Team USA in Beijing, and we’ll all be rooting for them. Lisa, Candace, DeLisha, we’ll all be rooting for them to bring back the gold medal. I look at it as my teammates being able to be World Champions and WNBA Champions. Bring it home!!
Stay tuned, because I have some exciting news coming up very soon!!
